Harvester Relays 2017

Hamish's map Harvester Relays 2017,

Harvester relays 2017
For the first time in many years PFO took part in the annual inter club relay competition called the Harvester. This is in main due to the decision a couple of years ago to make Tom Gray relay coordinator.  So many thanks must go to Tom for doing the leg work of entering the teams .  The Harvester is very much the grown up version of the Peter Palmer junior relays in that it starts in the dark and finishes in daylight. PFO managed to put in two B teams. That is a total of 10 runners with the Wood and Alexander families providing the bulk of runners.
The B teams started running at 1.30am. Gary Alexander and myself went up to the start after, in my case 1 hours sleep to be greeted by someone form South London saying ‘ Isn’t this exciting’ , Gary and I looked at each other and thought otherwise.

Compass Sport Trophy Round 2017 - Simpson Ground

Twenty PFO members made the trip to Simpson Ground in the Lake District on12th March to compete in the NW heat of the Compass Sport Trophy. Unfortunately we didn’t win a place in the final - to be held in Devon later this year. That honour went to SROC. Thanks to Gillian for organising the team as Hamish was on a course and therefore unavailable on the day. Reports from two PFO members are below.

British Night Champs 2017

British Night Championships 2017 Great Tower Wood
A number of PFO members braved the recent downpours to participate in this year’s British Night Championships at Tower Wood.
George Crawford Smith had let it slip that he has completed many of this year’s local night events in preparation for the event whereas , night novices Chris Goddard, Andy Wood and I were relying on our wits and enthusiasm to complete the courses.
George’s preparation was well judged; he completed the 3.4km M70L course in 4th place in a time of 67.10.
