Dales Weekend 16/17 September 2017

It was a great PFO attendance last weekend, 12 club members turned out for Day 1 of the Dales Weekend at Attamire near Settle and 14 club members competed on Day 2 at Malham. All courses were physically demanding and technical, but we were blessed with clear skies and good visibility or the results could have looked very different.
Peter Stobbs  completed the Brown courses finishing in 6th position on both days. Christian, competing against his mum on the blue course, finished victorious on both days, demonstrating improvements in both speed/endurance and navigation. The Ellis family turned out in force on the Saturday and we also saw a welcome return to competition of Helen Smethurst and Mike Fairburn. Jim and Gillian battled it out for honours on the short green courses with Jim just in front on both days. Caleb and William both competed on the light green course on the Saturday finishing in 11th and 17th place respectably.
Day 2 over Malham was no less challenging with all courses slightly longer than the previous day.
Andy Ellis and Helen Ellis, this time minus the children, both produced sound performances in the blue and short blue, Andy finishing in 61st place out 76 and Helen finishing in 67th place out of 95. It was good to see Garry and Debbie Alexander competing with Garry finishing a creditable 54th on the green course, making him the first PFO finisher on that course ahead of George, Helen Smethurst, Andy Wood and Debbie. Wendy Crawford Smith completed the very short green on Sunday finishing 11th out of 20 whilst Caleb ended his weekend with another sound performance on light green.
All round it was a successful weekend with highest ranking points for some PFO members.

Apologies if I have failed to mention anyone, well done to everyone who finished without significant injury!
