Todmorden Harriers Mini Moorland Marathon event 21st January 2018.
The 3 hour score event started and finished in the porch of the Hare & Hounds pub in Chiserley, above Hebden Bridge. Sound familiar? That's where PFO members met for the 2017 Club Champs on Midgley Moor not long ago. Today the weather was rainy or snowy depending on your altitude, with drifting snow and whiteout conditions on the tops. Great for a day of adventure and tricky navigation.
There were 30 controls ranging in value from 10 points to 40 points, scattered over 40 sq km of Wadsworth Moors, the Calder Valley and as far south as Stoodley moors, all knit together with a lacework of footpaths.
To cut a long story short PFO won 3 prizes in a field of 60 competitors composed of fell runners, orienteers and other runners.
- Chris Goddard (Tod Harriers & PFO) - 1st overall with a score of 430 points
- Peter Stobbs (Trawden Athletic Club & PFO) - 1st Male Vet 50+ with a score of 268
- George Crawford-Smith (PFO) - 1st Male Vet 70+ with a score of 150
Congratulations to Mandy Goth of Tod Harriers who planned the event and provided some tough choices.
