World Orienteering Day 2017

Grand total WOD participation on 24th May 2017 was 288,000, up 38,000 on 2016.

Pre-event info below here:

On the 24th May PFO will be celebrating World orienteering Day in style at Marl Pits Rawtenstall  6.45- 8:30pm.  Judith has negotiated for use of the Rugby Club Bar and we will be putting on a BBQ.

BBQ tickets are  £1.50 from Danny at - you can order a ticket and pay on the night.  We would like as many people as possible to come to this event to
help IOF International Orienteering Federation reach it's 500.000 target of people orienteering around the world on one day.

More information about the event world wide can be found at

There will be a number of fun orienteering challenges to do during the evening, maybe before you go to the bar!

We hope to have SELOC along to help and boost numbers as well as local non orienteers  who might like to have a go at orienteering and find out more about the sport.

The aim of WOD is to see how many people world wide we can get orienteering on one day. The target is 500,000. Further details can be found at

Please spread the word and come and join us if you are able to - it could turn out to be quite a party.
