Lee Quarry is a major venue for mountainbikers, with a lot of contour detail.

Lee Quarry is well known to mountainbikers, who have created trails around, up and down the old spoil tips. Rossendale Borough Council now manage the site and have made safe the most dangerous parts (e.g. 10m vertical crags) and improved many of the natural tracks.

For foot-O the interest is in the complex contour detail. The terrain is hard, fast and undulating with many steep slopes to overcome. There is no undergrowth! Staying in touch with the map is the name of the game.
