Inov-8 Mudroc 280 ™

A top quality, stylish looking orienteering and running shoe. The thing about this shoe that stands out so much, is how incredibly comfy it is. Even after running for 2 hours this shoe still fits like a glove. The grip is excelent on slippy rock and loose rock. It performs well in most muddy conditions, it does struggle slightly in extremely slutchy conditions, but so do most shoes which don't carry spikes on the bottom.

This shoe comes in half sizes and with 3mm and 6mm footbeds. It has a very good lacing system which holds the foot very well which is useful when contouring. At £65, the Mudroc 280 ™ insn't cheap but compared to it's competition it's good value for money. I give this shoe a 9/10.

Inov-8 Mudclaw 270 ™

Another brilliant shoe from Inov-8. A very lightweight shoe which hardly feels like it's on your foot. The best feature of this shoe is it's superbly aggresive grip which can deal with, the most slutchy conditions, the wettest, stinkiest bog and the wettest rock. With all this comes a small downside. Compared to the Mudroc 280 ™, it isn't that comfortable, after running the Rossendale Round the Hills in this shoe my toes were blistered and my inner foot had rubbed a lot.

Saying all that, I like the shoe a lot. It performs more like cross country spike than anything else in it's field which is very useful when orienteering takes you in the direction of mud which it often does. I would like to hear about the Mudclaw 330, a heavier more stable version but with the same sole. I rate this shoe 6/10.
