NOTE: MAXI course scores have been factored by 315/260 = 1.21. MIDI by 175/390 = 0.45. This is to bring this weeks ODDS & EVENS scores into line with the max achievable in weeks 2, 3 and 4, namely 315 and 175.
Thanks to everyone for turning out today on a warm and sunny evening. We'll have to print more maps for next week - just in case.
Midweek SCORE Series. Event 1 of 4.
This is the first event in the June Wednesday evening series designed for competition, practice and training.
Simple format - 26 controls. See below for scoring rules: Maxi = hard score course, Midi = medium score course.
Open to all abilities - novice, junior and adult competitors.
Turn up and go.
SEASONAL VEGETATION: Long legwear is recommended as nettles and brambles are at their seasonal high.

Staghills Scoring Rules Only - ODDS & EVENS:
There is one map for both courses.
The map shows control circles with short link-lines, which point towards the other number of a consecutive numbered linked pair, e.g. 105 ODD to 106 EVEN.
Time limit 45 minutes, before penalties acrue at 10 points per minute late i.e. 1 point per 6 seconds.
MIDI Course: There are 26 controls, each worth 10 points. Visit as many as possible in under 45 minutes.
Gain an extra 10 points for each linked pair of ODD followed by a consecutive EVEN number e.g. 101 followed by 102, 107 by 108, or 113 by 114, etc. Note: no extra points for reversed pairs e.g. 102 followed by 101 etc.
MAXI Course: There are 26 controls in 13 linked pairs. No points unless visited in ODD-EVEN order, then 20 points per correct pair. Visit in any order, e.g. 101 followsed by 102, 119 by 120, 113 by 114, etc. A final single control counts as 10 points.
There will be a league table for both Maxi and Midi courses. Best 3 results out of 4 to win!
Staghills Wood is set on the banks of the River Irwell. Good runnability throughout, steep in places, but leveling off at the top of the hill. Some open areas.

About the area/map
Staghills Woods, Lea Bank and Tricketts is an area of runnable woodland following the bank that runs down to the River Irwell. There are many paths throughout the area.
In Staghills there is a wealth of contour detail (steep in places) and vegetation features. Lea Bank is part of an old school grounds with contour and water features. Tricketts is an area of wooded rough ground that once housed WWII air raid shelters.
