Andy Ellis (Organiser) Comments:
Thanks to all competitors and all helpers for making today's event a success. I had doubts early this morning trudging through the driving snow above the Ski Slope to put controls out, but it all worked out well in the end. The snow added an extra element of fun to the proceedings and it was ironic that registration and the finish had an alpine flavour with the ski tows chugging away in the background.
The general feedback was that competitors enjoyed their courses despite the slippery, snowy areas on the higher slopes. Some of the M16-/W16- competitors struggled with the steep hill to the top of the Ski Slope but enjoyed the challenge! There were a couple of quibbles about control placement but nothing to cause any real concerns, course voiding or disqualifications.
The numbers of entrants was not as high as I'd hoped, but fifty or so on a cold damp day was a reasonable number. It was good to see so many competitors from other clubs coming specially for the event.
The inaugural Junior Cake Stall was also a success with everything being sold, which obviously bodes well for the future - well done. Monies will go to Junior Squad training camp expenses.
The facilities at the Ski Slope were ideal for us - ample parking, toilets and dry registration. The owners are more than happy for us to return for a future event and for us to enjoy their slopeside cafe overlooking the Hahnenkamm finish line.
