Map and terrain

This event uses a new area, mapped by Eddie Speak in 2024. Expect multiple route choice options, beautiful parks, cut throughs and decision points throughout the courses on offer.

This is an Urban event. It is the last event in the 2026 North West Urban League (NWUL).

Course information

** ALL TBC**

You may run any course competitively by selecting the appropriate Age Class, but to count in the NW Urban League you must run the correct course for your age group or a higher one.

Competitors can ‘Run Down’ a course by entering the relevant ‘Open’ course, but again would not be eligible for NWUL points.

Course lengths quoted for optimal route, subject to final controlling.

Under 16s are only allowed to run courses 6 and 7 unaccompanied; these do not cross any roads with notable traffic. Under 16s must be shadowed on other courses. Any adult shadowing must run their own course first.

Course 6 contains a marshalled road crossing. Please ensure your child understands this.

Registration and start times

Starts: TBC. Junior courses (6 & 7) start will be limited to TBC.

Courses close TBC.

Please ALWAYS report to the Finish/Download whether you complete your course or not, so that we can ensure you are safely back.

Car keys can be left at Download, especially for those competitors travelling alone, as an additional safety check.

Directions and parking

Parking: TBC by the park.

Start – TBC m walk taped, minimal climb. The walk to the start crosses a couple of quiet roads, please accompany juniors.

Finish: The finish for all courses will be Adjacent to assembly / download

Pre-existing medical conditions: What you should do.

Insurance: From 1st January 2026, participants who are not members of British Orienteering will no longer be covered by British Orienteering's public liability insurance. By entering any event from 1st January 2026, you acknowledge that you are taking part at your own risk. For example, if you were to accidentally injure a member of the public or damage property during the event, you would not be covered. British Orienteering's public liability insurance used to cover non-members at events before this date.
