Beat The Streets
Beat the streets is a game using electronic controls that is similar to street orienteering. The aim of the game is to earn as many points as possible by walking, running, cycling between the controls which are called 'Beat Boxes'.
The nearest location where you can play this game is Burnley with the 'Beat Boxes' remaining in place until the 27th October.
There are over 100 of these controls in and around Burnley, all you need to do is get a card / key fob and register. You can then plan your routes around and gain points. When you get to a Beat Box you hold the card up to it until if flashes and beeps, and it will register your visit. Go to another Beat Box within an hour and you get 10 points.
Judith has a small number of cards, or you can get them from a number of locations in Burnley.
Visit the Burnley Beat the Street web-site to find out more and also where you can get a card so you can take part.
