Cyprus OCyprus Intern'l O Festival
Here's a little O-something to while away the dark nights, with a few O images to cheer you up.
Wendy and I had booked to go to the first ever Cyprus International Orienteering Festival in early March. Five morning events, 4 middle distance courses in open terrain (Days 1, 2, 4 & 5) and one urban (Day 3).
We arrived on Sunday, the first cases of CV were confirmed on Monday, the city streets emptied on Tuesday, O started Wednesday, all museums and archeological sites were closed on Thursday, the sprint/urban was cancelled on Friday, though a mini Harris Relay around our holiday 'village' went ahead, and days 4 and 5 in open terrain went ahead on Saturday and Sunday. We flew back on Sunday evening with Jet2 in a full 737 that had arrived empty. Phew.
There were some 300 entries almost all from Europe, especially Scandinavia, with many UK clubs well represented. Attached are the maps for the 4 middle distance areas, plus some O-action photos.
