Explanation of Event levels
- Training events are non competitive events used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport.
- Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Most clubs run some 'mini series' throughout the year as local mid week events.
- Regional events attract participants from around the local Region.
- National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away,
- Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships or the annual JK competition.

Our popular Street Orienteering series returns for the first event of 2026, and we’re kickingthings off in Barrowford!
This is a 60 / 75 minute score event where the aim is simple:get as many points as you can by visiting as many checkpoints as possible within the timelimit.Checkpoints are all on street furniture (nothing hidden or tricky) and marked on your map, each with a different points value. Visit a checkpoint, find the code or answer, record it onyour answer sheet, and earn the points.
Plan your own route, choose how hard you push, and see how much you can collect before time runs out.You can take part solo or with friends, jog it, walk it, or even walk the dog – it’s entirely upto you.
It’s a fantastic way to get outdoors, get some exercise, and enjoy a tactical treasure-hunt–style challenge around the streets of Barrowford.
Newcomers are very welcome. No previous orienteering experience is needed and fullinstructions will be provided on the evening, making this a great introduction to the sport aswell as a fun challenge for regulars.
