Local level event

Explanation of Event levels

  • Training events are non competitive events used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport.
  • Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Most clubs run some 'mini series' throughout the year as local mid week events.
  • Regional events attract participants from around the local Region.
  • National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away,
  • Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships or the annual JK competition.

Planner's comments:
Thank you to everyone who turned up on Saturday despite the awful weather in the morning. Luckily it became fine in time for the first starts although the ground was extremely muddy & slippery. Even though it is a small area I think I got a reasonable Green course out of it and I hope Light Green, Orange & Yellow were also acceptable. Thanks also to everyone who helped in any way especially Jim. Pity the rain started again when we were collecting in!

Organiser's Comments:
It was touch and go earlier in the day with axle deep flood water on my way to the event, but dry weather prevailed from first starter to last finisher. Lucky us.
For the first time PFO paid Hyndburn Council for use of the car park, pavilion and toilets. I think you'll agree it was money well spent considering the conditions.
Thanks to Mary, the SI and registration team, the competitors and helpers alike for making it a worthwhile event.

Next PFO event is Dean Clough Regional on Sunday 20th October.

George Crawford-Smith.
